As a senior software engineer, you will be expected to contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and optimization of the software that controls our innovative optical systems. You will be responsible for writing production code, implementing tests, interfacing with hardware, and executing on our strategic goals. In addition, we are looking for a candidate who has experience leading a small agile team of engineers for a startup company. 

FluxData is located in the Village Gate complex in the vibrant Neighborhood of the Arts. We offer a casual work environment that places a high value on self-motivation and getting things done. Position is located in Rochester, NY.

The Optical Systems Technician will be responsible for performing daily production test and debug activities, as well as providing testing support during product development stage.


  • Responsible for daily production test activities and data collection/analysis in color measurement system
  • Develop, sustain and improve test processes for color measurement system and subsystem testing, Provide equipment functionality and capability reports during production test
  • Work closely with Engineering as part of Projects teams to contribute to the definition of test approaches for new product. Provide test support (including test, debug, result analysis) in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers.
  • Provide equipment functionality and capability reports during production test
  • Maintain tools and test equipment properly and ensure they are calibrated
  • Streamline test data gathering, analyze results, generate report and lead test data reviews for production yield or new product release
  • Perform Gage R&R as required to maintain test results correlation among stations/sites
  • Support RMA investigations and final report generation
  • Write operating instructions for programs or use existing computer programs, applying knowledge of programming to adapt the chosen equipment to the specific job application
  • Set schedule of procedures and maintenance tasks as required to maintain equipment in prescribed condition.
  • Test alternative techniques and methods; recommend change in procedures or equipment as necessary.

Background/ Experiences/ Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate will have a background which includes:

  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, color measurement systems, imaging systems, and computer programming.
  • Hands-on experience in color measurement and test systems, debug and characterization in color measurement
  • Strong analytical capability and experience, familiar with statistical analyze tools a must
  • Solid understanding of color science and Design for Test and Manufacturing, FMEA Concepts.
  • Experience with automation test setup and implementation
  • Experience developing and executing a test plan from requirements
  • Experience post-processing data from measurements
  • Experience with report generation using existing templates.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office
  • Meticulously and precisely when perform required test
  • Flexibility with other tasks


  • Associate Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Imaging Science, 3+ year experiences in related field
