The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical design background, extensive experience using 3D CAD software, and capability and experience in designing and manufacturing opto-mechanical products. As a member of a small agile team, you will be expected to manage projects, produce manufacturable designs, and prototype using our in-house shop as necessary.

A FluxData mechanical engineer should exhibit the following:

  • A solid foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals and specifically opto-mechanical design
  • Proficiency with CAD software.  Solidworks experience is desired
  • Experience with solid models that achieve design requirements using best design practices and industry design standards.
  • Ability to create detailed technical product drawings and customer product specification drawings utilizing GD&T standards. Carry out engineering change requests and BOM updates
  • A strong proficiency in completing tolerance stack-up analysis and the ability to design simulation activities including FEA
  • Experience with the assembly of precision instruments, including fine-tuning and alignment
  • Experience with machine vision components, optics, automated imaging inspection systems, and color measurement is a plus
  • Strength in creating and using engineering design guides and standards
  • The ability to develop and document manufacturing and testing procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
  • The ability to participate in technical discussions, including a willingness to share ideas and the acceptance of critical feedback
  • An interest in, and willingness to work on, assignments across multiple engineering disciplines

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle product development, from initial customer discussions to design, prototyping and finally handoff to production.
  • Project management experience desired
