Position Summary

Ocean Optics is searching for an Engineering Coordinator to report to the Vice President of Product Development and Engineering in Winter Park, FL.  The Engineering Coordinator is an organizing and administrative position which will assist the global engineering organization with resource scheduling and planning, with maintaining engineering documentation for Ocean Optics products, and with recordkeeping for Ocean’s intellectual property portfolio.  This role serves as an important hub for handling information within the organization on engineering projects to ensure successful execution.  The Engineering Coordinator will also be responsible for set up and coordination of engineering meetings and involved in planning local and global engineering events, which may require occasional travel. The Engineering Coordinator will work behind the scenes to solve problems and deal with issues before they are brought to the VP of Engineering’s attention.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the VP of Engineering and Engineering Team with clerical support
  • Resource scheduling and planning, in cooperation with engineering leadership
  • Coordinate engineering documentation for current and future products
  • Assist with recordkeeping for the intellectual property portfolio to ensure all information is organized and available
  • Assist in editing and preparing reports on behalf of the engineering organization
  • Analyze data to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
  • Set up and coordinate engineering meetings and record the minutes
  • Assist with travel and logistics
  • Coordinate local and global engineering events

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.  They will be:

  • An excellent writer
  • Good at verbal communication with a variety of people
  • Extremely organized
  • Deadline-driven
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • Strict confidentiality of information
  • Attention to detail
  • Decision making
  • Problem solving abilities

Additional Qualifications

These qualifications are not requirements but would add to the candidate’s desirability for the position.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and/or LiquidPlanner software
  • A science or engineering background
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role
